Here’s my Goodreads review of Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer:

I turned off the telephones, shut down my laptop, and finished Twilight this afternoon.

What a masterful story by Stephenie Meyer–and what a risk, to write about vampires who choose to live their lives in a different way.

In case you haven’t read the book, I won’t give anymore away.

But I’m reminded of Joss Whedon’s Angel, the vampire with a soul in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series.

I want to give the story away, darn it, but I’m determined not to give anything away.

Twilight is about two very different people who fall deeply in love.

It’s a story about being different, isolated, lonely, reviled. But it’s also about family, about the choices people (and vampires) make regarding their lives.

I find it a hopeful book, as it proves to the reader that love may walk into our lives at any moment throughout our lives, and knock our socks off.

It’s also sexy without being pornographic, with well developed characters, and detail that’s easy to read.

The story is also set in the Pacific Northwest, my home, and I love reading about the endless rain and cold that settles into the bones and makes itself at home for months at a time.

The next book in the Twilight series is New Moon, and I’m bidding on a copy via eBay. The hold list at the Seattle Library is too long, and I don’t want to pay full price.

Read this book and let me know what you think.

So many books, so little time

Maybe fall is right around the corner, but all of a sudden reading is very important to me!

Right now, I’m reading the following books:

I will update my reading wish soon; I’m really tired tonight!
