I love Acorn TV.
British murder mysteries are so well done, and are lots of fun!
Here’s Acorn’s description of Loch Ness:
The beautiful, haunting shores of Scotland’s most iconic loch is the stunning backdrop for the new six-part crime drama. In a community nourished and sustained by myth and bordered by untamed nature, the search for a serial killer becomes a matter of life and death for local detective Annie Redford (Laura Fraser, Breaking Bad). Within the tightly knit town, a sense of horror begins to dawn as the villagers realize that there is more than one kind of monster in their midst. Also starring Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley).
I would love to visit Scotland someday! It looks beautiful!
Loch Ness started out kind of slow for me, but by the second episode I was hooked. The murders are awful (but murder always is, right?). Murders in small towns and villages (e.g., Midsomer Murders, Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple) seem worse to me. I’ve always hoped that small communities are immune from human evil, but life experience (and a lifetime of reading) have proved me wrong.
Series 1 of Loch Ness is a well done crime drama. I thought I had the story figured out, but I didn’t. I love when that happens. Great characters, good writing, solid mystery.
And the scenery is beautiful!
And no, I will not tell you if “Nessie” shows up!
I’m hoping there will be a season two.
