I’m listening to the audio version of this book, narrated by Simon Vance. I had forgotten what a great story this is. This book is the best one of the trilogy. It’s a top notch mystery.
I’m reading and listening to this second book in the All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness. I’m loving this story!
I finally watched this movie, and I really liked it. Guillermo del Toro is a great storyteller. His movies are weird and fun to watch.
The Shape of Water tells the story of a woman named Elisa who falls in love with a creature who lives in a water tank.
The year is 1962, and Elisa works in a Baltimore laboratory.
Elisa has a supportive coworker and a quirky neighbor who buys a lot of yucky pie (I don’t want to give away too much of the story).
I love the cast, especially the actor who portrays the government agent.
The Shape of Water is good creepy fun! It’s a fable about friendship, love, and taking chances with your life.
The Shape of Water is rated R for sexual content, nudity, violence and some foul language.
I grew up watching Sinatra’s 1960 Ocean’s 11 movie. Sinatra and his “rat pack” buddies were slick and really smart.
I have not watched the updated Ocean’s movies, not sure why.
But I’m a Sandra Bullock fan (thanks to my friends Donna and Ben, who introduced me to Bullock’s 1995 movie The Net).
Also, Glenn from Glenn’s Movie Mumblings had an awesome review of Ocean’s 8, and I knew I needed to get my lazy self to the theater this weekend.
I loved Ocean’s 8, from beginning to end. A heist flick with smart, sassy, and beautiful women is a kick!
It’s got an amazing cast and a story that kept me interested. The dialogue is funny and fast paced. Rihanna is my favorite actress in this movie; she is cooler than iced tea on a hot day.
Ocean’s 8 was pure fun for me, helping me to relax and laugh after a busy month.
The original Ocean’s 11 is a good movie, but 8 is a well done remake.
Ocean’s 8 was worth the price of my senior matinee ticket.
Thank you for giving us a finale, Netflix. But damn you, Netflix, for canceling this amazing series.
I hope there is another Sense8 story in the future.
Back in my old couch potato days, I spent a lot of time reading, on my couch or bed.
Sitting too long is bad for this diabetic granny. So when I started being more active, I started listening to audio books more. I still read the printed word, of course, and thanks to Kindle I can read on the go.
But with audio books, I can listen to great stories when I’m walking, doing housework, or driving. And since I’m old, I don’t always sleep well, so my favorite audio books help me sleep through the night. Some of the narrators are great, others really stink. I bought an Audible book on sale, a Hercule Poirot story, and the narrator trying to capture Poirot’s heavy accent was horrible. I couldn’t understand a word.
I’m currently enjoying Agatha Christie’s The Moving Finger, narrated by Richard E. Grant. Shadow of Night, narrated by Jennifer Ikeda, is another good one (witches, daemons, and vampires in this All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness). And I’m about halfway through the Kinsey Millhone series written by the late Sue Grafton. And of course, I own many of the In Death stories by J.D. Robb, aka Nora Roberts. Susan Ericksen is the narrator of these books, and she’s great!
I’ve had an Audible account for a number of years, but I also recommend checking out your local library for audio books. I connect to my library with the OverDrive app.
I’m pleased to report that I am no longer a couch potato!
Last week I logged in 69,901 steps, 77 flights of stairs, and 551 active minutes. I also completed one hour and fifty eight minutes of exercise (aerobic and walking). I burned 16, 957 calories.
I am proud of my increased activity, and I worry a lot when I consider taking things slower for a day or two. When I started logging my steps on the FitBit, I was lucky to get 5,000 steps every day. I want to maintain my activity level, because damn I feel good!
I usually take things a bit slower on Sunday, and yesterday it felt good to do this. I’m back on schedule today, glad I took things a bit easier yesterday. Tomorrow I start exercising for the week (at least 15 minutes a day for five days).
Above is one of my favorite walking paths, and weather permitting I will walk there tomorrow.
