Where in the world have I been?

Blogging experts will tell you not to explain absences from your blog, but as many of you know, I march to the beat of a different drummer.

I’ve been absent from this blog due to a combination of factors, some good, some bad. Here’s the reasons:

–Life. Working, reading books, writing some reviews at Pure Textuality, family stuff has kept me happily busy.

–Blogging apathy. Have you ever gone through a period of time when you feel that you have nothing to contribute? That’s where I’ve been “at” for the past few months. It’s been a cold, wet winter here in Seattle, colder than normal, and I guess I’m just not used to being so cold. Which is hilarious, since I grew up in upstate New York, on the banks of Lake Ontario, and have lived through snowstorms that keep one marooned at home for days.

–My blogging apathy may also be attributed to my lack of comments on other blogs. I just could not think of anything of worth to say! I’ve always felt it’s better to say nothing, instead of pecking out words that are trite.

–And finally, to my absolute dismay, I’ve been sidelined for almost two weeks with whooping cough. We’ve had an epidemic of whooping cough in Washington State. Thanks to a number of medications, I’m doing much better, but still lacking my usual energy. I’m in bed every night by 9:00 p.m., asleep shortly after, and dragging a bit when I get up the next morning.

That’s what I’ve been up to.

I plan to catch up on blogs in the next week, and may even find something worthwhile to offer in the way of comments!

Right now, I’m off to the local youth theater to see my grandson J perform in Grease.

Have a nice weekend!

  1. Hello! So happy to see you back in blogland, I was wondering if you had decided to stop altogether.

Glad you are over your whooping cough and I look forward to your posts 🙂

  2. I saw your comment at Facebook about the Whooping cough and was so surprised. I thought that went out years ago due to new medicines. I know the sounds people make having it are pretty scary. I do hope you recover completely from it. I too have had some recent absences due to my living situation and no way to commmunicate. Nothing to say that I want others to hear much. Guess there are just periods of stillness we must have to keep our minds clear for when something great happens we can share. Thanks for getting us all up to date though. Hope the play is great and know he will do a great job in it. Be well!!

  3. Thanks, Lady Banana. There were times I thought I might give up also! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

  4. Thanks Carol! You should have seen the dumbfounded look on my kisser when the doctor told me I had whooping cough! Ha! I’m feeling loads better, thanks so much for the good wishes. The play was very good, almost the whole family was in the audience! There’s another matinee tomorrow, this one for the high school actors–115 young people auditioned for this production of Grease, so the directors decided to have two separate casts–my high school-aged grandson is in tomorrow’s production! Thanks again for the good wishes!

  5. Nothing wrong with taking a breather.
