Monthly Archives: July 2009
Last night, we finally got a reprieve from the oppressive heat that decided to come visiting to our fair city.
I started my vacation yesterday at 2:00 p.m., and I’m ready to move tomorrow morning.
I should be back online next week, but I will still be posting sporadically.
We have an illness in the family; my daughter-in-law’s Dad is very ill.
So, after my move, I will be helping out my son next week.
Take care, everyone, and be well.
Vacation is in 9 days, and I move in 10 days.
I’m cleaning, a bit at a time.
And right now I’m trying to stay cool, as it is 87 degrees in Seattle.
It will be a bit cooler tomorrow and Thursday, then I guess the heat returns on Friday.
Now, I’m off to visit some of your blogs, hopefully commenting during my visits.
UPDATE: Sorry, dear bloggers. I’m off to wash walls.
To deal with the fun and stress of moving.
I know, I’ve said this before.
And my name is Beth, a.k.a Gran!
I have not had my own full kitchen for about five years.
And I was not in the mood to cook when I did have my own kitchen.
I had too many other responsibilities, so I ate out a lot.
Now, as I once again acquire pots, pans, and cooking utensils, I’m thinking about what I’m going to cook in my brand new kitchen.
But I need a cookbook.
One good cookbook, nothing fancy, for wholesome plain (American) food.
What cookbook should I buy?
What cookbook do you use?
All ideas welcome, and I will announce which cookbook I end up purchasing.
I’m actually considering one of The Barefoot Contessa cookbooks–I love her show on The Food Network.
But I’m willing to consider anything!
It’s a lot cooler this morning, and it’s raining.
I can hear thunder rumbling to the south of us, and we may get a storm soon.
After putting myself in the eye of a cleaning storm yesterday, I’m not really up to any more cleaning today.
I have two more weekends to finish cleaning, and it will go quickly now that those two sets of venetian blinds are sparkling clean.
Unfortunately, I can’t comment on any Blogger blogs right now; I keep getting an error message.
So I’m listening to A Prairie Home Companion on the radio (actually, on cable television radio) and having fun on my computer.
I will keep trying to comment on blogs.
But other than doing my laundry, I’m going to take life a little easier today.
Until Daniel Craig came along to play 007, I thought that Sean Connery was the one true James Bond.
I like Daniel Craig.
And I feel sorry for the poor bastards who play villains in movies; they only get a few minutes on camera, and get the shit beat out of them.
Oh well, everyone has to work at something.
For the next three weekends, I will be cleaning my current small apartment.
When I move out on August 1, I will turn in my keys and shut the door after the movers get everything loaded into their truck.
I put in a solid 4 hours of cleaning today, so now I’m going to relax and start again tomorrow.
It’s a beautiful day in Seattle, a lovely eight degrees or so, lots of sun and a lovely breeze.
I hope it’s nice where you are today.
