Local News | 3,000 people march in downtown Seattle | Seattle Times Newspaper

Thousands of people marched peacefully through downtown Seattle Saturday afternoon as part of a national protest to protest the California vote that banned gay marriage. The size of the crowd was estimated at 3,000 to 5,000 or more.

And I was one of those marchers.

With my son, daughter-in-law, 4 grandchildren and one family friend, we all marched 12 city blocks, waved signs, and chanted. Even Luka, my 5 year-old grandson, marched–he only had to be carried about four blocks.

It was an amazing experience.

The photo is mine, taken with my cell phone. We had just arrived at Westlake Mall and the rally was taking place as I shot this photo.

Now you must excise (excuse) me, because my body is in extreme pain. I need new glass, I guess.

But it was fun!

  4. No, it was a peaceful march and rally, Lilly. Every police officer in Seattle was on call, I think. I need to get more memory on my phone, because I’m getting addicted to taking pictures! And my pain was pretty radical, getting better now thanks to Ibuprofen and my heating pad! Thanks, Lilly.
